On the air since June 1986, The Freedom Principle received a Jammy award for 'Best New Program'. This show features the music of the African diaspora. Past programs include Manding Swing, Congolese Rumba, Zimbabwean Liberation, South African Jazz, Mississippi Delta Slide & Moan, African Impressionism in American Jazz, etc. The philosophy of the program is to see acoustic ensemble music as a developing world jazz incorporating many styles and rhythms which draw from indigenous sources.

In 1997 I contributed a short essay - "Railroad Blues" - to an exhibition entitled "Track Records: Trains and Contemporary Photography". The premise of the exhibition was a study on the relationship between train travel and the photographic experience. My essay analyzed the influence railroad travel has had on the blues. The exhibit's itinerary included:
Oakville Galleries - Oakville, Ontario May 10-June 29, 1997
Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography - Ottawa, Ontario July 18-Sept. 28, 1997
Presentation House Gallery - North Vancouver, B.C. Oct. 25-Dec. 14, 1997
The Illingworth Kerr Gallery - Calgary, Alberta Jan. 29-Feb. 28, 1998
Centre culturel - Sherbrooke, Quebec May-June, 1998
MacKenzie Art Gallery - Regina, Saskatchewan Aug. 28-Nov. 7, 1998
